Rehabilitation of Vocal Injuries and Disorders
After many years as a performer, arts student, and singing
teacher, I became licensed as a speech pathologist so that I could help people
whose voice problems include a medical diagnosis. I've got links here to several great sites devoted to medical voice problems and treatment.
I've combined clinical and other voice skills for more than fifteen years, including
working at a
specialty clinic at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center from 2001-08 where I saw
about 1000
patients
for voice assessment and/or therapy.
If you're having trouble with your voice and have not seen a
throat
doctor (laryngologist), I can suggest several very good doctors in the
area. Or we can meet for an initial consultation, and I can give you a
medical referral list at that time.
I can't proceed with formal treatment until there is a good diagnosis from a visual exam of your vocal cords, but there may be general health suggestions that will give you some relief.
PLEASE NOTE: The Voice of Your Life operates on a
fee-for-service basis only.
I am unable to process insurance documents, including Medicare/MediCal. I wish that the USA would establish seamless, universal coverage so that administrative costs and chores did not burden everyone involved with health care. Until then, I prefer to keep
my rates low and spend my time with people, not paperwork.
